There are two parts to this song. The lead guitar, which is picking through nchords for almost the entire song, is Derek Webb. He is in an alternate ntuning, though, (it is DGDGAD) and so I will not put his part up. I know nto a few of you that is a pain, but to most it will save you numerous sets nof strings from breaking, so I have to consider the masses. Again, anything nyou want and cannot find, simply e-mail me and ask! n nAnyway, Cliff's part is Capoed at the 4th fret, and played in G. That puts nthe actual song in [B],[] fyi. With a little practice, though, you can play the nentire song with his part and come pretty close to the record. Just work on npicking through the chords as opposed to just strumming straight down. I also nwent through every verse, as opposed to saying "see above" or something like that; nthere are some small subtle changes thrown in. Be sure to look through all the nverses if you want to catch these. Only the chorus is the same throughout. n nAll chords are given relative to the Capo n nIntro: n[G Am7 C D] n[G Am7 C D] n n(NOTE: If you are really ambitious, you can pick through these. I have tabbed nout a pretty nice way to go about it. It is really fast, so it will take some npractice, and mail me if you ahve questions) n n---------------------------------------- n------3---------1------1p0h1--------3--- n------------------------------2--------- n--------------------------------0-0----- n---------3p0-h3---0h3------------------- n-3-3------------------------------------ n n ---G--- ---Am7-- ----C----- ----D---- n n---------------------------------------------- n-------3-----------1------1p0h1-----------3--- n--------------------------------2------------- n----------------------------------0-(4)-0----- n---------0h3p0-h3-----0h3--------------------- n-0-0h3---------------------------------------- n n ---G--- ---Am7-- ----C----- ----D---- n n nVerse: n [G Am7 C D] n Spit and the clay, when washed away n [G Am7 C D] n Gave the blind man sight n [G Am7 C D Em] n New eyes couldn't comprehend the sun n [D] [C] n That by light ended the night n nBridge: n [D] [C] n Shackled in blindness since his birth n [D] [C D] n Whose sin, was it him, what's it all worth n n nInterlude: n [G Am7 C D] } This time, these are just strummed, not n [G Am7 C D] } picked as earlier. n n nVerse: n [G Am7 C D] n Now with eyes wide open they n [G Am7] n interrogate him n [C D] n Saying who is he n [G Am7 C D] n Do you believe what that man is saying n [Em D C] n Who do you say is he n n nChorus: n [G Cadd9] n All I know n [D Cadd9 G] n Is I was blind, he said n [C9 D Cadd9] n And now I see n [G Cadd9 D Cadd9 G Cadd9 D Cadd9] n All I know is he healed me n n nVerse: n [G Am7 C D] n I sit here today n [G Am7 C D] n So I say that I believe in him n [G Am7 C D Em] n Yet I cannot fathom the wind-like way n [D C] n That's made me new again n n nBridge: n [D] [C] n Shackled in blindness since my birth n [D C D] n Whose sin, was it me, what's it all worth. n n nChorus: (Same as above) n All I know n Is I was blind, he said n And now I see n All I know is he healed me n n nVerse: n [G Am7 C D] n Now new from the womb n [G D] (<-- Note the change from [Am7] to D!) n They interrogate me n [C D] n Saying who is he n [G Am7 C D Em] n Do you believe what that book is saying n [C D] n How gullible can you be n n nBridge 2: n [D D] n Darwin my tend to disagree n [D] n I don't know n [D D] n Marx is writing a drug I need n [D] n Still I don't know n [D D] n Freud analyzes in my head n [D C] n Nietzsche's saying God is dead n n But I'm saying n n nChorus: (Same as above) n All I know n Is I was blind, he said n And now I see n All I know is he healed me n nChorus: (Same as above) n All I know n Is I was blind, he said n And now I see n All I know is he healed me n nOutro: n [G Am7 C D] } Go back to picking through these n [G Am7 C D] } n n [G Am7 C D] n Spit and the clay, when washed away n [G Am7 C D] n Gave the blind man sight n n n------------------ nChord Signatures: n------------------ n nCliff: (all given relative to capo) n nE|-3---0---0----3-----2---0--- nB|-3---1---1----3-----3---0--- nG|-0---0---0----0-----2---0--- nD|-0---2---2----2-----0---2--- nA|-2---0---3----3-----x---2--- ne|-3---x--(3)---x-----x---0--- n n [G Am7 C Cadd9 D Em] n n----- nBrett nbdm@falcon.cy-net.net n1:14 PM 12/8/96 n n nLyrics printed by permission of Derek Webb and Aaron Tate. nWritten by Aaron Tate and Cliff Young.
